MGMT 1034 Retail Marketing
Students in this course will identify and apply marketing tools and concepts within the ever changing retail environment. Retail marketing is critical to the success of any retail organization and encompasses strategies to incorporate every touch point interfacing with the customer. Given the transparency of information available today, the balance of power has shifted more influence to customers - which is why the retail marketing plan and execution are critical to thriving retail companies. Every customer touch point is an opportunity to influence customers. Students will apply Industry recognized concepts used to support marketing decision making in a range of applications that may include; Positioning, Customer Targeting, Communication Strategy, Customer Relationship Management, In-store marketing, layout and atmospherics and Legal issues in retail marketing in Canada. Students will gain experience in the fundamentals of building a retail marketing plan

MGMT 2037 Retail Management
This course provides a good understanding of the concepts, strategies, and trends associated with a retail operation in the Canadian marketplace. It explores the current retail environment and key retail management strategies from managing merchandise and employees, to advertising and promotion. The course incorporates environmental, demographic and social issues into the discussion of retail operations. Key financial and profit formulas are also presented. The course involves both individual and group work, and incorporates real-life case studies.

MGMT 3013 Shopper Research
Students in this course will identify and apply the concepts that retail companies use to analyse and influence the Shopper Path to Purchase to convert increase sales and profitability by increasing the purchase conversion. This course covers the key elements in the art and science of setting the stage so that customer wants become needs either in a store or on their devices, and converting shoppers to buyers. Students will learn to influence touch points in the store and digital retail environments with new technologies of today.

MATH 1138 Retail Math
This course introduces students to the concepts, terminology, and metrics of Retail Math that are used in the regular course of a retail business to manage, analyse and forecast performance and profitability. This course provides students with the tools to understand and apply retail math concepts. Students will learn how to read retail reports, create a merchandise plan, analyse a retail Profit and Loss Statement, calculate retail performance metrics such as ROA, GMROI, inventory turnover, and make recommendations to improve productivity and profitability.

BUS 1038 Business Concepts
This course provides an introduction to the study of business in Canada, past and present, and identifies trends affecting the future of business. Emphasis is placed on identifying the internal functions of business and exploring the themes of change, globalization, international business, entrepreneurship, human resource management, quality, finance, motivation, leadership, and ethics/social responsibility.

BUS 1041 Small Business Management
This course introduces students to the concepts and principles of small business management. Students apply a basic understanding of the steps required to evaluate the prospect of starting a small business and the fundamentals of operating a business. Student will use research to understand the current business climate. Students will develop the ability to understand what it requires to start and operate a self-managed business. Students learn how to research a selected business opportunity and how to develop a business plan for a new business. Students will also draw on knowledge from other business courses to create a viable business plan.
